Vada Pav (Indian Potato Sliders)
"Batata vada" translates to "potato fritter" in Marathi, while "pav" comes from the Portuguese word "pão," meaning bread. The popular snack is believed to have been invented by Ashok Vaidya, a Mumbai resident, in 1966. He created it as a convenient and inexpensive meal for textile mill workers near his stall.
